Calpine Corporation is the largest generator of electricity from natural gas and geothermal resources in the United States. A Fortune 500 company headquartered in Houston, Texas, Calpine operates in competitive power markets across the country and is owned by an affiliate of Energy Capital Partners alongside a consortium of institutional investors.

Operating at that scale means complex, interconnected application environments – where visibility, data flow, and infrastructure reliability are not just technical concerns, but business-critical requirements.

The Challenge

Calpine needed a modern cloud architecture that could unify their existing application landscape – improving connectivity across systems, centralizing data visibility, and optimizing business processes end-to-end. The core ask was integration: breaking down silos between cloud-based applications and creating a foundation where information flows freely and reliably.

Key objectives defined at the outset:

Our Approach

Manual configuration management was replaced with automated processes, eliminating a significant source of ongoing operational overhead. This freed engineering resources from reactive maintenance work and reduced the risk of configuration drift across environments.
